Technical Assistance
Since 1987, Policy Research Associates, Inc. has been a national leader in mental health research and its application to social change. PRA has provided technical assistance to over 100 communities nationwide through a broad range of services to guide policy and practice in the field of mental health services.
National Technical Assistance Centers
PRA currently operates 4 national technical assistance centers and programs for Federal (primarily the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and foundation clients. They are:
- The CMHS Transformation Center
- CMHS National GAINS Center
- National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice
- (SOAR) Technical Assistance and Training Center
- National Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental Illness (1988 - 2004)
- Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (1988 - 2006)
Available Technical Assistance Services
PRA's technical assistance services are available to States, localities, and community-based organizations. Staff and consultants can assist with the implementation of evidence-based treatment, support, and housing approaches for people with mental and addictive disorders, particularly those who have experienced homelessness or who have been involved with the criminal justice system. Services include:
- Assessment of needs
- On-site and off-site consultation
- Facilitation of strategic planning or other meetings
- Commissioned papers or reports to Congress, State legislatures, etc.
- Development of tools and resources, including monographs, briefing papers, fact sheets, newsletters, and brochures
- Customized bibliographies
- Website design, development, and updates
- Listserv management
